Track perceived readiness around a specific skill.

If nothing was unclear or difficult, say so. Skip questions about steps you did not experience; use not applicable where appropriate.

## 2. How confident are you applying it to a new example?

Answer: ____________________

## 3. What would help you become more confident?

Answer: ____________________

## 4. Which part could you explain without notes?

## 5. What example would help you test your understanding?

## Author notes / illustrative keys where applicable

1. Measure perceived ability to explain the concept, keeping it separate from an actual explanation. Use uncertainty to select a clarification task rather than assign a competence rating.
2. Check perceived readiness to transfer the concept beyond the taught example. Follow with an appropriate application exercise; a confident answer does not establish successful transfer.
3. Identify what support the learner believes is missing, such as feedback or another example. Investigate that request before assuming additional instruction will resolve uncertainty.
4. Locate material the learner believes they can recall independently and compare it with a voluntary explanation task. Recall confidence alone cannot establish understanding or accuracy.
5. Choose an example that exposes the learner's unresolved uncertainty so practice tests a specific understanding. The learner's preferred example may need adjustment to fit the concept.

Interpretation caution: Self-reported confidence must not be presented as demonstrated competence.
