# Newsletter reader survey

Improve a publication around what readers actually use.

If nothing was unclear or difficult, say so. Skip questions about steps you did not experience; use not applicable where appropriate.

## 1. Which recent issue helped you do something useful?

Answer: ____________________

## 2. What section do you usually skip?

Answer: ____________________

## 3. What question should the next issue answer?

Answer: ____________________

## 4. What action did a recent issue help you take?

Answer: ____________________

## 5. Which topic needs less background and more practical detail?

Answer: ____________________

## Author notes / illustrative keys where applicable

1. Locate a recent issue connected to a useful reader action. Investigate which explanation enabled that action without attributing a broader outcome solely to the newsletter.
2. Find a section readers routinely bypass and explore whether its relevance, length or placement explains skipping. Nonreading alone does not establish that its information is unnecessary.
3. Identify a current unanswered question for the next issue to address. Prioritize a concrete explanation rather than choose topics only by general expressions of interest.
4. Check whether readers can name an action taken after a specific issue. Keep reported application separate from evidence that the newsletter caused the result.
5. Locate a subject where introductory background no longer meets readers' needs. Add a focused practical example while preserving essential context for less experienced readers.

Interpretation caution: Do not generalize subscriber opinions to people who unsubscribed.
