# Self-paced module navigation survey

Understand how independent learners find and complete a module.

If nothing was unclear or difficult, say so. Skip questions about steps you did not experience; use not applicable where appropriate.

## 1. Could you identify where to begin?

Answer: ____________________

## 2. Which step was hardest to navigate?

Answer: ____________________

## 3. Was it clear what had been completed?

Answer: ____________________

## 4. What resource helped when you became stuck?

Answer: ____________________

## 5. What would make returning to the module easier?

Answer: ____________________

## Author notes / illustrative keys where applicable

1. A clear starting point allows independent learners to begin without assistance. Identify whether the obstacle is sequence, navigation or prerequisites rather than assuming lack of motivation.
2. Navigation friction exposes a step where learners lose their route through the module. Inspect labels and transitions independently; advancing through screens does not establish understanding of the material.
3. Completion cues help learners distinguish finished activities from remaining work. Compare the cue with actual module requirements without presenting a progress indicator as evidence of learning.
4. Helpful support reveals which resource resolved a particular difficulty during independent study. Improve its discovery route while recognizing that learners who remained stuck may need a different option.
5. Return needs expose whether learners can recover their place, context and next action after a break. Check actual saved-state behavior before promising that progress is retained.

Interpretation caution: Navigation completion alone does not demonstrate learning.
